Development Director

The Development Director will work with the Managing Director to develop and engage in various fundraising and marketing programs and campaigns in support of Architecture for Humanity’s projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an ambassador and relationship manager to Architecture for Humanity’s volunteers, pro bono designers, clients, partners, sponsors and others engaged in our programs.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, organization, and implementation of fundraising and sponsorship of Architecture for Humanity’s programs.
  • Initiate and follow-up on appropriate in-kind donations to support the work of pro bono design teams and subsidize construction costs.
  • Handle various aspects of donor recognition and develop campaigns for the nurturing of donor relations specific to Architecture for Humanity’s programs.
  • Aid in the research, coordination and submission of grant proposals.
  • Assist in the research, identification, and contact of new donor prospects.
  • Work with the Managing Director to review and pursue funding opportunities.
  • Work closely with Managing Director to set and achieve funding goals related to grants to support our efforts; undertake proposal development and management activities for funders and projects.
  • Handle work that is generally of critical or confidential nature requiring discretion and a broad working knowledge of agency policies, practices, and programs.
  • Report funding commitments as received to ensure proper tracking and handling.

Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years marketing experience with at least 2 years in the social services or nonprofit sector.
  • Experience in fundraising both through individuals as well as foundations.
  • Experience with Razor's Edge or similar donor database system.
  • Ability to prospect for and track leeds and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including corporate partners, invididual volunteers, high networth donors and foundations.
  • Experience in in grants management essential, experience managing government grants a plus.
  • Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, Powerpoint,(or Keynote) Microsoft Office required.
